CPU Players? / using under wine

Postby trickser » Fri Dec 11, 2009 12:05 pm

Hi, i finally was able to install the Bot version of Defcon under wine.
But i only managed to add one Bot per game and even the normal CPU players will only be empty players that wont do anything.
Is this the normal behavior?

Hope not, otherwise i would need to run more Defcon copies and therefore i would need more Defcon keys and more CPU power.

I recommend reading the documentation. It describes how to set up multiple copies of Defcon with only one key. It involves turning off "Advertise on Internet" to disable authentication checks.

Ok, got that. Still, i can hardly run 2 copies on my aged PC. :(
Does the norender option work for the windows folks? Because it doesnt under wine.

And i still have a problem with CPU Players not working, because i wanted to abuse the API to gather information about recorded games. But whenever a player drops and the CPU normaly would take over, the Bot version will do nothing, falling out of sync with the actual gameplay.

Edit: nevermind, the CPU players show up, just havent been patient enough / forgot to switch on radar share.

I just realised Visual Studio wont run under wine. Anybody thinks i have a chance to compile with gcc?

Edit: nevermind, i can just use the LUA interface.

Sure. You just need to get a cross compiler and tell it to compile your work to a DLL. Can't see why it shouldn't work, the interface is pure C, IIRC.
