Running Defcon on Ubuntu Jaunty AMD64

Postby AprilHare » Wed Apr 15, 2009 8:34 am

Hello,
Being one of these people who likes their global thermonuclear war (who doesn't?) I wanted to run defcon on my Intel Core 2 Quad machine running Ubuntu Jaunty AMD64.
Given that the only packages are for Feisty i386, I couldn't just add the repository as one normally would with custom application repositories.
So I downloaded the following packages manually:
and installed them using the command:

Code: Select all

sudo dpkg -i --force-architecture ./defcon_1.42-2_i386.deb ./defcon-sounds_1.42-1_all.deb
This is all well and good and defcon 1.42 works fine (although it seems to think defcon 1.43 is available!) however it creates an issue with the package manager: it believes there are unmet dependencies - for some reason, defcon doesn't appear in the database and it wants to remove defcon-sounds.
Does anyone know how I can fix this annoying problem?
