What Firewall settings for creating a game?

Postby trickser » Tue Jul 29, 2008 1:35 pm

I have a strange problem with my network settings.
Connecting to online game is no problem at all, but if I want to create a game just the chat window appears but the window were u add AI players and so doesnt. Or sometimes it just takes very long (>5min).

If i disable my firewall, it runs with no Problem at all.
Another strange fact is, that i changed AdvertiseOnInternet to 0 in the game-options.txt, so i expected to have no i-net connection at all, when creating a game.

My iptables setup basicly denies every connection attempt from the outside, but allows establisch connections.

Any Ideas?

AdvertiseOnInternet set to 0 simply don't send game info to the metaserver, it's not advertised.

I guess you found your problem, your firewall.

Defcon is made on client/server architecture, which means that when you host a game, you create a server and then join it.

See the NetworkServerPort in the preferences.txt file.
