Ridiculous League Game

Postby jon » Wed Jun 13, 2012 10:15 pm

So we're playing on League server, which is supposed to be for Pros.

It's me and Castle Bravo against Baton and Yellow Cake, a tough ask.

Bravo then places here:

Baton places on top of him and the game is effectively over before defcon 2. This is a joke.

As stated before (http://forums.introversion.co.uk/defcon/viewtopic.php?p=116257#116257), all servers should carry the reminder that:

"It's usually not a good idea to place your carriers in enemy waters at start." (aka Tobias' rule # 2).

BUT, who knows? The rule is such that it allows pros some flexibility. Maybe the risk is worth it sometimes. Perhaps CB decided to invoke a ploy to draw Baton out so you could rush him from below. :)

There are only two. If players adhere to these, games will not go to shit right away.

1) Hide your silos and airbases outside of enemy radar range.
2) It's usually not a good idea to place your carriers in enemy waters at start.

Hmm CB. I was half-kidding. How about telling your ally maybe? Beforehand? I wasn't there, so I do not know. Six carriers is indeed a big risk. I can see it working, however, IF you then placed all your subs under your carriers and much of your remaining fleet farther north, AND jon went all out toward middle africa.

Baton wouldn't get sucked in too deeply, so you'd need jons' buy-in beforehand since he'd be the hammer.

WE pretty much warned you from the get go that you were not a good enough player to play on League.
There is a reason that only experienced players play there.

We WANT new players to join us but only when they are ready.

The comment is in reference to Jon being impatient or w/e in this game. The comment still stands.
