Re: Black screen but can still hear the game

If you can go to your game folder and copy/paste your debug.txt contents we can get a better idea of what's going on.

Stick the following in your Run command prompt:

Code: Select all

%localappdata%/Introversion/Prison Architect/debug.txt

Re: [MOD] Graphics for Guard Tower mod

I think it would be reasonable to have guard towers stationed around the edge of the perimeter to act as a deterrent or a preventative measure against contraband being thrown over the walls (not likely to be possible yet). When I first saw the mod I thought it would be really useful to implement the...

Re: Should the community really start making mods at this ti

It's worth noting that the developers already have goals and lists of things in mind, they don't just make things up each month after they release each new alpha version. Within days of us having these new modding capabilities we're already starting to duplicate content between the community, of cou...

Re: [Suggestion] Better wayfinding in canteen

I've found that my canteens don't necessarily need to be that large. I can feed a 1200 bed prison with a canteen that seats 400 because of the prisoner's tendency to mill about the room when they are done eating. I have also exploited this in various other ways by adding phone booths and TV's so th...

Apologies, it's right on the wiki - I've just got clumsy sausage fingers

Re: [Suggestion] Better wayfinding in canteen

There are some interesting theories based on seat allocation in planes that could be put to use here, and would allow the prisoners to get in and eating their meals a lot quicker than they currently do. There's a pretty good article on it here with a bunch of cool computer models that demonstrate th...

Re: Any word on resolution of the alpha23 bugs

It's important to rate things on a reasonable scale of importance. Game breaking bugs are by their nature things that actually prevent the game from being played, and they are fixed incredibly quickly, often within a couple of days. Things that don't quite work or are just behaviourally odd are not ...

Re: Sub-Forums

First off, koshensky! Where've you been?! Aha, I've been kicking around in the background. Just finished my masters so now I've got time to come back, just in time for the latest alpha :D Or we could try to keep the wiki up-to-date. The forums (I think) are not meant to be the be-all and end-all of...

Current list of released mods

In order that we might keep this forum a little bit neater, and so we might actually find new and interesting mods amongst the myriad of questions and "wouldn't this be cool" posts, if everybody who has completed their mod and released it can post here, then we can keep the wiki up to date...

Re: Sub-Forums

I agree that it's going to get a bit messy in here, although I imagine it would be fairly arbitrary to determine when a mod was actually "done" at this stage as everybody is just releasing their first attempts and then continuing to improve on them. More forums will just add more confusion...

Re: White Screen at Alpha 24

Try deleting you preferences file, and then start the game again. It will remove any previous preferences and run as if for the first time with the default settings. Maybe there's a mod or a configuration in there that is causing some kind of game failure

Re: Modding Prison Architect

Where can I get the example garden mod as a non Steam user? I want to try modding a bit myself but need the example to start with. Thanks! A quick Googling seems to indicate that this website might do the trick. xander That's a pretty nifty site. Whilst you could certainly google and rummage throug...

In their Minecon talk they discuss their staffing situation from how they had roughly 12 employees in the mid-2000s, to now where they have 2, and how they plan it working in the future: We don't have a desire to grow a large team and have to do all that management headache. We would rather just foc...

Surely if the game were to be multi-threaded, it would be beneficial to actually make it multithreaded to start with rather than spend x-weeks at the end of the project going back and tediously rewriting everything into different threads?

They should, if anything, make the introduction a free demo. Basically gives you a small taste. To extend the food analogy: a small taste is good, but it has to be a taste of the right thing. A burger joint does not get customers by offering free samples consisting of raw meat, unchopped potatoes, ...
