My problem: Leaving when you're winning. I've had many a game, spesificly set up for something a little longer than normal, with warnings to check the settings, see my enemy quit, assured of their victory, shortly before the final strike puts me in the 200s and them in the negatives. There is less s...

You need a timer for a time bomb, but plenty of bombs. In the case of mail bombs, there is often a catch that sets off the bomb when it is opened. Land mines are a sort of bomb with a pressure trigger. Bombs can be detonated with the press of a button, either by remote or by wire. I seem to remember...

If I'm not mistaken, some do. I remember a news story a while back about a suicide bomber in the middle east who missed his target because they had forgotten to take a time zone change into account when setting up his bomb. It's no stretch to me to think that they might not trust the bomber's nerve ...

If she didn't know what was coming to her, she's an idiot. I suspect that she did, which means that, arguably, she is less of an idiot. That she did as told and seems to have been calm about the whole thing says to me that she knew what she was getting into, and did it anyway. I think she's trying t...

Abandonware is a term used for software that is no longer sold or supported by anyone. As an example, if IV went under tomorrow, god forbid, and the metaserver responsible for authenticating your Defcon client and setting up multiplayer games vanished, and no company picked up the responsibility, th...

Since someone else necromancied this thread, I thought I'd proved some contribution to it. While I don't agree with the pirates, I an frequently compelled to play devil's advocate, so here goes. Some arguments have been presented and shot down as to why piracy can be okay. There is an argument that ...

Defcon, of course. That's obvious. A smattering of online Halo 2, here and there, but not much. Unreal Tournament 2004, a lot. RPG invasion servers, I spend way too much time on. And just a couple days ago I broke out SSX3 for PS2. I think it still soundly beats both it's later sequals, SSX On Tour ...

Cave Story - Sacred Grounds Within the first six seconds, you've already been tested to see if you can optimally use your jet pack, making you start all over again if you can't. Twenty seconds later, you're dodging a tonne of bricks. One minute in, you're fighting a billion 'angelic' creatures with...

I had to vote option one because of all the fun I've had backstabbing recently, though I hate naval nuking, so it was a hard vote to make. I've always expected to get backstabbed in any game with defection on, so I consider it a matter of course that I will too if it looks like it's what I should do...

When this happens, does the enemy have any radar on your ships? Passive mode subs can shoot at sighted ships without pinging. That might be what's happening to you.

Right. In a show of solidarity, I'm going to vote Xander . I really think Bert is an asset, and starting a vote against him on the grounds he did seems suspicious. I've retracted my earlier vote, and hope people will decide I'm not some dirty rat that needs to be sent to Alaska. My career rests in y...
