The common theme i'm seeing is that a certain element of players are always looking to make every team/country/side totally balanced. This isn't a game of balance, its a game of trade offs...every country, structure and unit has its pros and cons..meaning trade offs. This is a concept thats not seen...

However, a combined attack launched by myself (South America) and another player (North America) consisting of about 30 silo launched warheads (15 each) with the warheads timed to arrive simultaneously caused Western europe heavy losses in the order of 50 mega deaths. A generous number of warheads p...

Well the best games I ever have are diplomacy games. Slowly breaking people out of the alliance and nuking the crap out of them is priceless. But getting a lot of idiots playing is one of the downsides of releasing the game on Steam I suppose. Just play on, diplomacy is the best gamemode ever. :) O...

The COUNTERSTRIKE mentality!
Hi all!, Having played roughly 30 games over the weekend since release, i've been enjoying it greatly! However I'm encountering what I like to call the 'Counterstrike Mentality' in many of the games. A lot of the games cropping up are 3v3, 2v2. Now I can see why people would want to play like this b...

I launched a full 60 warhead attack on South America from Africa and one the warheads has passed south of Europes silos, South East of North Americas Silos and towards South Americas silos there were fewer than 10 warheads left :D Conventional nuclear tactics are based pretty much on ICBMS being 99....

Legal issues aside for a moment. A game designed for multiplayer play that you cannot play online is totally worthless. How many people play Counterstrike (insert another popular online game here) on their own against bots 24/7? If everybody who has preordred Defcon has been playing about with the r...

Re: Map before 1990?
just saw in the snapshots that germany is still devided on your map. is the game set in the cold war - east against west? russia against usa? if not please change that map. germany is united since years. Come on, cold war theme! East v West I think people are still missing the point of Defcon!

I think requests for things like sound effects, 3D globes etc have missed what I feel to be the point of defcon. Its a game of global thermonuclear war! The graphics are simply a vehicle, 2d, 3d blah blah blah matters not. I think in fact too much glitz and SFX would heavily detract from the gamepla...

Don't assume the devs require the same variety of hardware or the number of testers as for Darwinia. Don't forget one of the advantages to Introversion of doing a game like defcon is that its much less complex from a development point of view (vs Darwinia). Less code, less complexity, less testing/t...

The kind of count i would find the most enjoyable would be one where you would have a number that was there in the bottom corner or something and as a nuke hit you could look and auctually see the number rapidily skyrocket. Yes, I had this in mind... sort of like a website counter...and as the nuke...
