I'm the same way... my name in-game is Vorlin and I don't quit. It's the same in WC2, SC, etc...any other RTS game; my official motto was "It's not over until the last peasant I have is dead". I can't stand it when people quit because they're losing. Like it's been stated, it's a damned ga...

Best thing ever today: Host said "Oh well, I guess I've lost, see ya" and shuts down the server. When theres still 3 other people happily launching to eachother in game For "hosts" like that, I'd record their name somewhere and make sure not to join their games. Kind of like mak...

I gather that a majority of people out there don't like seeing their armies getting whomped into the ground and their cities falling. I've been playing RTS' forever and it's the same mentality when someone sees a huge army about to raze their entire capital city or a string of guys just destroying e...

Policies like this aren't uncommon. I'm viewing these at work right now too and as long as Websense doesn't flag it as illegal, I can view them. If Websense flags a gaming site or something that requires "Quota time" (gaming, shopping, etc), then everyone has 60 minutes they can use. I'm g...

Hey all! A bit about myself first. I'm in the US (Florida) and have been involved with Introversion games since Uplink was originally available only via buying it overseas. I've played and beat both parts of Uplink, played and beat Darwinia, and immediately bought Defcon about 1 minute after I saw i...

In the almighty book of "Unix System's Administrator's Handbook", there's a very simple equation I've commited to memory since reading it almost 10 years ago. Security = 1 / Convenience The more utilities and policies are employed to secure data and protect users and their account informat...

I find it most hilarious that people are that worried about "online authentication" when XP sends an entire laundry list of information anytime you want to get updates and other programs have listening services to "check for you" for updates and God knows what else. We're talking...

There are a lot of people on the great huge internet that are pirates, admit it openly, and try to drag down those of us who actually work for our money and pay willingly to get games. These are the same degenerate rejects that claim EVERYTHING is so expensive and that they're trying to pass off as ...

Topic: Demo after game release - Why?

Back on topic, companies take one of two stances with a game demo. Either they'll know it'll be a huge success anyways and release it after the game itself has been released or they'll release a demo that has one or two levels and then hope that's enough of a teaser to gather more interest. 9 out of...

It's a place that was created for a myriad of reasons from HQ'ing several departments to the escape for the president and select civilians in the event of a nuclear war. Height would have been Cold War era, I think.

Now you can get tours of it, haha...

Yep certain images and text parts are from the 'Protect and survive' manual which was send out in the early 80's in Britain. Don't say you never learn anything from computer games, now you know how to build a fallout shelter which will (properbly not) help you survive a nuclear attack... Hah...

The concept of a press kit isn't a bad idea; it's just the delivery system that would be the problem. It's illegal to put out unsolicited anything as well in the US but that certainly doesn't stop anyone from doing it.

Word of mouth will do a lot more for any advertising campaign.
