What does locate libgtk-1.2.so.0 say, assuming you have a recent (s)locate.db, and if you do have it installed, is the path in your ldconfig and your ldcache updated.

It doesn't require the CD, it requires the data on the CD. The data that is also in the steam release.

Java isnt that much slower now. And swing, although not as fast as the ingrated GUI of windows kernel, or the x-server of linux, its still a hell of a lot easier to use. And with machines getting a HELL of a lot faster, a HELL of a lot quicker, it aint gonna be slow for long :) o_O I have a feeling...

Autopackage is looking like a better and better option. Recently even gaim started distributing autopackage installers for thier software.
