You have 1 beefed up squadie. He is the commando. You have to get though the levels with just him againts red darwinians.

At the moment, its only a very small island. And you only have to kill about 4 red darwinians to win. Confused , but I do intend to expand it much more than it is at the moment. This level was testing if I could do what I wanted. And I can. Almost. I wanted to lock the camera somewhat, so that the whole level could not be panned over, but this would probably require coding and changing the actual game things.

Interesting. Sort of similar to Icepick's concept, but the beefed up squaddie makes it interesting.

Found a bug though; after killing 6 red DeeGees, Sepulveda stated that I completed all objectives, there were a few left though.

Thanks for playing.

Yes I noticed icepicks late last night, after I had been doing this for a while. Mad grrrr. Oh well. Its not the same. So its ok. Confused

Yes I know he tells you that the objective is complete. I had to use the biosphere objective. So it seems to finish when you have 9 left i think. In biosphere this saves you hunting down the last guys you didn't kill, which makes sense.

Glad the beefing up worked. Some times it seemed not to. Were the lasers fireing really fast?

they idea could be considered inside a bigger mod with a storyline. It would be nice to solve a level with a single unit, but maybe a whole mod built only around this idea could be quite....not so funny. Anyway I cannot exclude that you could find some big idea around this gameconcept.

add a stats.txt to your mod, and buff up the commando so it can actually take on more units. maybe even lower the refire rate of whatever enemy you want (at some point it might even solo a souldestroyer Wink)

Hmm. I'd like to point out that infact, my mod is based around a single, beefed up squaddy, and you also do infact take on a soul destroyer mano-o-mano. It is likely to be quite a big mod, and has (I think) quite a nice story line. I just want to point out I'm not scampering around stealing D Dude's ideas Razz.

Also, stats.txt is only loaded on darwinia's start up, so if your mod isn't active at the start then the normal stats will be used.

You could use scripts to move to a camera point, and not have a camera reset. This would lock the camera in that position until your squaddie activated another trigger point and the camera was moved again.

Just got PC Gamer (UK) and its got my mod on it!!! Which is a big supprise. Never thought that would happen. Its also got, Fodder, Siege and Survival of the Fittest.

Sorry Dukey and The Goldfish, I didn't see your posts ages ago for some reason.

To The Goldfish, good idea about the camera. Might try that, when I get the scripts working.

To Dukey, good idea, a forest level, might make the game slow down, but I will see what happens.

Also here is the updated version of the mod: Darwinia Commando

Its the same level but bigger with more darwinias to kill, more buildings and objectives. However, the kill darwinias objective works but the get the commando to the trunkport doesn't. It doesn't like the objective for some reason.

Also if you want your last objective to work set the SafeArea to isglobal 1.
I´ve noticed that Icepicks mod has the same problem.
